About JSON Formatter
Indents and pretty prints JavaScript Object Notation (JSON) code. Tags: json viewer, prettify, syntax highlighting
Input: text. Output: text.
Example
Use “Try example” to load this public sample and its settings, then run it.
Sample keys and passwords are public. Never use them to protect real data.
Input
{"name":"Serialize","count":2}Result
{
"name": "Serialize",
"count": 2
}Formatting and validation
The formatter parses JSON syntax and reports invalid input. It does not validate a JSON Schema, remove application-level errors or authenticate a document.
Preserving numeric values
Check how large integers and decimal values are represented by the parser before relying on round trips. Keep the original document for signed payloads or exact-byte comparisons.
Parameters
| Parameter | Default value | Input and choices |
|---|---|---|
| Indent string | " " | Escape sequences such as \n, \r and \t are supported |
| Sort Object Keys | false | On or off |
| Formatted | true | On or off |
Before interpreting the result
Formatters change layout; minifiers reduce unnecessary formatting. Parsing requirements differ by language. Preserve original bytes when signatures or checksums depend on them.
How to use this page
- Paste your input or open a local file.
- Adjust tool options if needed, then choose Run tool.
- Copy the result or download the original output bytes.
Inputs and results are not added to the public catalogue or saved in the URL. Processing happens in your browser; HTTP Request and DNS over HTTPS send the requests you explicitly run. Files up to 128 MiB can be opened; decompression and image tools may have smaller processing limits. Large results have a shortened preview. Text and HTML downloads use UTF-8; binary downloads preserve output bytes. Pasted text follows browser newline handling; open a file when exact input bytes matter.
