Using Serialize
Know what happens to your data.
A guide to inputs, downloads, network requests and your advertising preferences.
From input to result
- Choose a tool from the directory. Read its input format and any required options.
- Paste text or open a local file. “Try example” loads a public sample and runs it with the example settings.
- Run the tool, then copy the visible result or download the output. Reset clears the current input, options and result; Cancel stops a running operation.
The operation is already selected for the page. For example, the Base64 to Hex tool decodes the input and formats its bytes as hexadecimal in one run.
Text, files and exact bytes
Text inputs use UTF-8. Browser text fields can normalize line endings, so open a file when a checksum or conversion depends on exact original bytes. The file picker accepts files up to 128 MiB; a particular decoder, image format or decompressor may impose a smaller limit.
Output is bounded to 64 MiB and a run is cancelled after 60 seconds. Large results have shortened previews. Copy uses the text visible in the result field; Download preserves the complete available output. Text and HTML downloads use UTF-8; binary downloads preserve the produced bytes. HTML and image previews are isolated from the main page.
Processing and privacy
The application processes tool inputs and opened files in your browser. It does not automatically upload these inputs, publish results, store them in the URL, or save them to a server-side history. Downloaded files are saved by your browser wherever you choose.
HTTP Request and DNS over HTTPS are network tools: running them sends the request you specify to the destination or resolver. The site also downloads application code and Adobe Fonts. Hosting and third-party services receive ordinary connection information such as your IP address and request headers.
When advertising is enabled, Google and its partners may use cookies or other identifiers under the choices and policies shown to you. Local processing is not a promise that the page makes no network requests. For sensitive work, close unnecessary extensions and prefer a trusted offline environment.
This preference uses browser storage and takes effect on subsequent page loads.
This site preference prevents Serialize from requesting ads. It does not withdraw an earlier choice made through a Google consent message or delete cookies already stored by third parties. If a Google privacy message is available, use its privacy choices control to review those choices.
For one visit, add ?privacy=1 to a tool URL: open the Base64 decoder with advertising disabled. This does not disable font or explicitly requested network downloads.
See the Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy for the policies applicable to Serialize. Privacy requests go to the privacy team: legal@gridheap.com.
When a result needs a second check
Invalid inputs may produce an error or a partial interpretation. Check the alphabet, character encoding, units and tool settings first. A valid-looking decoded token does not establish authenticity; use a verification tool and a trusted key when that is the task.
If a public example fails, or the output differs from a format specification, report the tool and a sanitized reproduction. Screenshots and examples you send should exclude personal information and credentials.
