About Unix Timestamp to Date Converter

Convert an epoch value into a UTC date. Select the unit of the source timestamp before running.

Input: a numeric value. Output: text.

Format reference: From UNIX Timestamp background and specification

Example

Use “Try example” to load this public sample and its settings, then run it.

Settings used in this example
ParameterExample valueInput and choices
UnitsSeconds (s)Seconds (s), Milliseconds (ms), Microseconds (μs), Nanoseconds (ns)

Input

1704067200

Result

Mon 1 January 2024 00:00:00 UTC

Select the timestamp unit

Unix time counts elapsed time from 1970-01-01T00:00:00Z. Many APIs send milliseconds rather than seconds. The unit selector is explicit so the same digits are not silently interpreted in the wrong scale.

Range and timezones

Unix timestamps are not inherently restricted to 32 bits. Supported range and precision depend on the parser and date representation. This page displays UTC; convert to local time deliberately when needed.

Parameters

ParameterDefault valueInput and choices
UnitsSeconds (s)Seconds (s), Milliseconds (ms), Microseconds (μs), Nanoseconds (ns)

Before interpreting the result

Check seconds versus milliseconds and specify the expected timezone. A timestamp identifies an instant; a formatted local date may be ambiguous around daylight-saving transitions.

How to use this page

  1. Paste your input or open a local file.
  2. Adjust tool options if needed, then choose Run tool.
  3. Copy the result or download the original output bytes.

Inputs and results are not added to the public catalogue or saved in the URL. Processing happens in your browser; HTTP Request and DNS over HTTPS send the requests you explicitly run. Files up to 128 MiB can be opened; decompression and image tools may have smaller processing limits. Large results have a shortened preview. Text and HTML downloads use UTF-8; binary downloads preserve output bytes. Pasted text follows browser newline handling; open a file when exact input bytes matter.
